Baltimore has a long-standing, though quirky, relationship with the King of rock and roll. Each year, Baltimore's Lithuanian Hall hosts an alarming influx of all manner of Elvii—young Elvii and old, skinny and fat, male and female, Elvii with Scottish accents and one without, but in a kilt nonetheless. Some were beaded and sequined, some wore shimmering suits. All payed homage to pompadours, curled lips and gyrating hips at the 13th Annual Night of 100 Elvises.
Though the event seemed heavily populated by the VFW or the American Legion, the Kings' influence has trickled through the generations, and stylish, young greasers, as well as members of Baltimore's rockabilly scene were also in attendance for the uniquely Baltimore experience.
