Metromix visits the 'wild and wonderful' state

Davis, W.Va., is a small town just a few miles south of the western-most tip of Maryland. A few miles south of that lies the Canaan Valley and the Monongahela National Forest. Unfortunately, all of this is about four hours from Baltimore.
Under the cover of night, we cruised through the sleeping town and turned off the main road before arriving at the Timberline Four Seasons Resort. Talk of skiing this weekend (the first day of spring officially happened that Saturday morning) shifted to talk of hiking instead. A weekend away from Charm City is just what everyone needed to shake off the winter blues and finally start the spring thaw.
