Great Place, Surprisingly Affordable

I went to Mustang Alley's a couple weeks ago with a party of seven to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere is really cool, with lots of TV screens going, and the food and drinks were surprisingly good (a world apart from traditional bowling alley fare). We bowled, ate, and drank for two hours (duckpins!), and the total per person came out to something like $30. How cool is that? Friendly, laid back staff, fun, good value. Will definitely be back.

Mustang Alley is a great place to hang out. The bowling is awesome, and they have great food. It's a good place to take the whole family, very kid friendly. At night it's more like a sports bar and bowling alley. We have been a few times and always have a great time. Great bar staff too!

AVOID - Terrible Bowling lanes. Worse Staff....

Just went there last night for the second time. Both times was with my company (company outting).

The first time, I gave this place the benefit of the doubt, the second, inexcusable. Over the course of 2 visits, and 7 games ( 3 games the first visit, 4 last night), our lanes score keeping computer crashed/miscalculated LITERALLY 30+ times. I wish I was exagerrating, but I'm not. Being that we were competing with each other, it made it basically impossible to bowl one normal game.

When presenting the issue to the staff, one of the staff (possibly the owner? a young fellow with short brown hair), was visibly intoxicated and drinking on the job, with a staff shirt on. The entire night, he claimed that a "party of 50" had bowled the day before, with no issues. Is it just me to think it's weird for an employee to tell us we're doing something wrong when THEIR computers and lanes are malfunctioning? To anyone who's ever been there, you know that the customer DOES NOT PRESS 1 BUTTON in the course of a visit. The entire session is controlled by the staff, with the exception of inputting the names when you first being.

The entire night, this particular staff member/manager continued to offer excuses and statements laden with accusations that him and his establishment was not to blame.

The only redeeming quality was our waitress, who seemed helpful enough (and was very thankful for a 20% tip, I guess a lot of their "regulars" are cheap?), and the decent bar-type food.

Still, for literally hundreds of dollar less, it's better to go to your local Fairlanes and spare yourself the frustration and indignity of broken lanes and extremely rude staff.

Good & Bad

I really like the idea and concept of the place. However, as another poster mentioned it is very snobby. Meaning for the ton of coin you drop, you can still expect to be treated rudely by some of the staff. It will be interesting to see what happens to this place after the novelty wears off. If your party drops $500 in a couple of hours you would think the service should be good. Just my opinion.

I decided that Patterson Park Bowling is a much better deal. Its not swanky, but the service is great, its cheap and BYOB.

Delicious and Fun

Great lobster mac & cheese! Bowling rates are per hour per lane so if you have a group it's comparable to any other bowling alley- but smoke free and much nicer atmosphere. Great service and a cool place for a night out.

Don't expect to finish your game at Mustang Alley.

Last night was my first experience at Mustang Alley. Upon arrival for a friend's birthday party, I was impressed with the venue. It was new and clean, had a nice bar and seemed to be classy. The employees were uptight from the start which was surprising -- after all, it is a just bowling alley.

Our hostess who planned the birthday party had reserved three lanes from 7-9PM. Five of us were on time and we were allowed to start bowling (it's five to a lane max, I believe) in lane number one. The other members of our group were running a little late. Half way into our first game, someone from the staff asked us to move lanes. I'm not sure why this request was made but we did not end up moving. The woman at the alley made a huge deal over the fact the people from our group were late, constantly asking the hostess where the other people were. The lady at the bowling alley interrupted us again to say there was a wait to get on the lanes (eventhough our hostess had paid to reserve the lanes for the two hour time span) and she forced us to give up lane number three because she said "there was a wait". We never saw anyone take over lane three during the rest of our time there.

The other members of our party showed up and started bowling on lane two. We continued to order lots of appetizers and drinks from the bar. At the end of the night, we'd accrued approximately a $250 bar tab between all thirteen guests.

When we were on our ninth frame of the game, the lanes completely shut down. The machines were turned off and the lights went out on us. No warning, no offer of "you might want to pay $10 and finish the game", just shut down. Thirteen guests who had been enjoying drinks and food at this establishment, were basically kicked out. And when our host questioned the policy of paying by the hour as opposed to paying by the game, he was told to "go to Patterson if that is what you want".

I understand this is a business and they have to turn a profit, but shutting down a game on brand new and paying customers is not the way to make a first impression. They need to rethink their business model.

Not impressed, Mustang Alley, and in the future, I will take your advice and simply "go to Patterson" after a dissatisfying experience like this.

I hear this place is hella pricey. As soon as I save up some extra money, I plan to check it out. I hear there's lobster pizza, too.
