Kisling's Tavern
2100 Fleet St. - Baltimore410-327-5477
Kislings is a place you only want to visit once(or not at all). This past Wensday my girlfriend and I went for lunch and we wished that we hadn't. We have been there before and hoped this time things would be different. Kislings is your typical hole-in-the-wall which has the feel of a "high-end" place in Dundalk.
It seems as if the decor hadn't been changed since the day they opened their doors(who knows when). Kislings had a dirty feel to it from the tables and chair which all had chipped paint to dusty wall coverings. The barmaid seemed lost in her own world and was very slow getting the drinks and comming back for our orders. She was clueless on the beers that were stocked (I wanted to try new beer on the list that I hadnt before and she knew nothing about it, if your a barkeep you really should know what your serving).
We ordered starters. When I ordered my bonless chicken tenders I told her to make them the HOTTEST you can, when they arived they were almost sesonless! My girlfriend had ordered French onion soup which was so salty I couldn't take another bite. For lunch (I also had hopes that it would be better but I was wrong yet again) I ordered the Southern chicken sandwich that came with fries. Timing was way off, lunch arived about 3 min after she gave us the starters which was pointless to even order the starters! I looked at my plate and saw a chicken wrap (I dont mind wraps but I wasnt in the mood for one at that time) I brought the mistake to her attention and I got a look of confusion followed by a response of "Oh". Again the food tasted and looked dirty as if they hadn't cleaned the grill in a week!
I dont mind paying for a good meal and enviroment but Kislings is off the hook. Their food was WAY over priced, example: 10 wings for $9!!! You have to be NUTS to charge that much (I remember 3 years ago when they were only $4 for 10 wings)! Kislings needs to realize there place in the in the bar/food industry and make some MAJOR changes before I even think about going back. Next time I walk down Fleet St. I will be sure to pass and go Tyson's or some where else down the road. I give them 1 star
