For JHU students, Charles Village is the obvious place to bar hop. It's just close enough for a fun, drunken walk home and just far enough that students can keep procrastinating on their homework.

From bars as interesting as One World Cafe to ones as well-known as CVP, these college hangs will have you wishing for more nights off and less nights studying. Read on to up your bar-Q, and learn about some spots to hit before graduation.

Bert's Eats & Drinks

Bert's Eats & Drinks

3105 St. Paul St. - Baltimore
410-235-2501

One of the newer places around Charles Village, this sports bar offers cheap food during the day for broke college students. At night, it becomes a bar where JHU coeds hang out and watch every type of sport imaginable, depending on the season, of course.

Charles Village Pub

Charles Village Pub

3107 St. Paul St. - Baltimore
410-243-1611

Also known as CVP, you can find students from Hopkins hanging around here. (Yes, they go out, too. No one can spend all his time studying.) Not known for having the best service, Bert's waitresses might be found hanging out at the bar chatting up the bartender. On Wednesdays, though, you won't need too attentive a waitress, since a pitcher of beer and a half-pound of steamed shrimp only costs $9.95. With specials most every night of the week, you won't even notice you forgot to write that English paper that's due tomorrow.

The Den

The Den

3327 St. Paul St. - Baltimore
410-243-7077

Although it's a little more upscale, The Den does have some positives. If you want a night out with the girls at a chic place, this may be the lounge for you. And when we say lounge, we do mean lounge. At the Den, you can rent beds by buying a top-shelf bottle. The downside? A Pabst costs $3.50, so make sure your generous parents put some spending money in your bank account.

One World Cafe

One World Cafe

100 W. University Parkway - Baltimore
410-235-5777

Located across from JHU, the vibe at this place is constantly changing. It's a great vegetarian restaurant and coffee place during the day, and a strange drinking spot by night. Despite the hippies in knitted sweaters, you can enjoy the Wednesday all night happy hour, which includes $2 draft beers and $2.50 rail drinks.

PJ's Pub

PJ's Pub

3333 N. Charles St. - Baltimore
410-243-8844

This pub is pretty cool...if you're underage and wear a lot of Abercrombie & Fitch. If not, you can still check it out, though you might not fit in with PJ's preppy youngsters. As always, the drink prices aren't bad and the bar can get pretty full. If you're under 21, though, you might need a convincing fake ID to get in. (Not that we'd encourage underage drinking or anything.)
