Ploughman's platter at Mick O'Shea's
Ingredients: One Irish banger (a banger, by the way, is a sausage—pork in this case), a sliced baguette, Brie and crumbled Bleu cheeses, a sliced Granny Smith Apple and table grapes served with Mick O'Shea's homemade whiskey mustard
Damage: $11
Skinny: More of a continental European hodgepodge with some Irish flair than simple Irish cuisine, the ploughman's platter could easily be a meal in itself. According to co-owner Dave Niehenke, "Irish food is peasant food," so anything will do, "Anything," in this case, is enough food for several "little sandwiches." Our favorite combination: a baguette slice, some whiskey mustard (made with Jameson), Bleu Cheese and a slice of banger. The mustard is great, it's strong and spicy, but if you're worried that combo could create some real stank breath, freshen up with a slice of apple or some grapes.—Mark Gross
