Report This ReviewExtremely disappointing. The staff is more concerned about chatting with friends. Food- Cold and generic. Drinks -good luck getting one.
Report This ReviewWent there for college football on saturday. Had pretty good food/drink specials but had HORRIBLE service.. the bar had about 15 people in it and it took them over 15 minutes to take food/drink orders.. Only have 3 TVs downstairs one was a modest 40 inch and the others were less than 20 inches.. Crappy pictures and the idiot clutch short bouncer employee had no idea how to use the direct tv. Requested a game on the main screen and then it was put on the smallest TV possible.Yea and the food... all our buns were char burned and the burgers were way over cooked for a medium... Avoid this bar.. If clutch is to survive as a new bar in Baltimore it really needs to adhere to what its customers request.. Oh yea and check your debit/credit card receipts.. they list your entire credit card number and expiration date.. wow kinda shady..
This bar sucks!!! .. suggestions to management.. fire your stupid short guy bouncer..
I was able to convince my girlfriend to follow me a bit off the beaten path by suggesting we head up to Saute, but on our walk I cleverly convinced her to try the new place, Clutch. The price and style of the happy hour specials suggested that this was not going to be an experience typical of Canton. Upon entering, the staff was huddled around the lower floor bar, which was all but empty otherwise. A very friendly server asked if we were dining, here for drinks, appetizers, etc-- What a refreshing thing for this area (Ive noticed that if you sit at a table in Canton, they'll often rattle off all the dining specials etc. without so much as assessing interest).
Anyway, the food was a cut above. We had a few appetizers: The calamari was fairly well cooked and had a delicious sauce. The wings were above par, not the Tyson's bullshit that some places attempt to serve. Finally, the quesadillas were substantial and much tastier than usual.
We ordered martini's for a change of pace and they did not disappoint. The bartenders are qualified.
The only issues arose when the bill came. Although I had seen the sign out front which indicated that select appetizers were $5, the waitress had informed us that the items we ordered were "half off"-- not true by a sum of about $6. Also, "domestic drafts" were supposed to be half off during happy hour-- last I checked, Yuengling was brewed in PA and it is considered a domestic at most bars- another $6.
Aside from the $12 discrepancy on our bill (which was not worth more than a mention to our server, who responded with some embarrassment but changed nothing), we would have left with intent to return sooner than later. As it stands, we'll head back for more, but might wait for a few kinks to work out and the staff (as mentioned by a previous reviewer) to get on the same page.
Report This ReviewI went to this place a couple weeks ago. The service was good, the food was good especially the wings and the owners were friendly. They have some things to work out but for only being open 2 months they are well on their way. Definnetely a different vibe the rest of canton.
Report This ReviewThis was by far the worst restaurant experience I've had in Canton! As a party of 5, we were sat upstairs on the second level dining room. Across the floor on the second level appeared to be the manager or owner typing away on his laptop. Our drink orders and food orders were placed promptly, however it took over an hour for our food to arrive!! Even worse, it wasn't until 45 minutes into our wait (where the manager across the way didn't seem the least bit bothered that his customers were idly sitting there, with no food, for such an extended period of time) that the server announced that two of orders were "no longer available" -- a common mishap when dining, but why did it take 45 minutes to tell us?! It was chalked up to a "miscommunication" between the kitchen and manager. I imagine it's the same manager that was so immersed in whatever was on his laptop that he didn't notice 5 customers waiting an hour for food -- 5 feet away from him.
To compensate for our wait, two entrees were comped, along with one drink, and we were brought up complimentary shots. All of this would certainly have improved the experience .........had the food not been horrible! The crabcakes were not only dry, but virtually crab-less. This is Maryland, for crying out loud! After a couple of us had to walk around to other tables to find our own condiments (ketchup, salt, old bay) to try and improve the food (since no other staff bothered to ask us..oh, and the laptop-wielding manager still would not acknowledge us)...it became clear there wasn't much that could be done.
I felt bad for the server as he was running all over the place, but a place like this - that is off the beaten path from Canton square - needs to find a way to stand out whether it be in their exceptional service, great deals or food - and Clutch fails in all these categories. Unfortunately for us, we had a really bad dining experience and then were caught in a torrential downpour that could have been avoided had our food not taken an hour to be served. Unfortunately for Clutch, this is "Smalltimore" and word of mouth travels extremely fast among locals, especially in the day and age of facebook, blogging, etc. I'm sure they'll iron out their kinks in no time, but I hope management attemps to take on a more vested interested in their customers. However, I certainly won't be going back to find out!
