horrible

I went to mosaic to get the night started for a bachelor party. We were having fun a getting a bit roudy so they asked us to leave. I was being escorted out of the bar without incident until we got outside. The bouncers threw me face first on pavement and pinned my head down chipping my tooth so in was spitting blood on the pavement and they would not let me up. Needless to say the bouncers are a bit overzealous (If they are reading this now would be the time to open a dictionary). Never going back and i hope nobody ever will. just another come and gone powerplant club.

horrible bar

i had a beer and then went to order another round only to have a fat bouncer put me in a headlock and punch me in the face. allegedly someone shined a light on me so i had to go. he couldnt tell me who, why, or do anything except be an jerk. a waste of cover and giving a bartender $20 to receive no alcohol and a punch in the face. will not recommend to anyone. plus it is too much smoke and fog. spend your money somewhere else.

they discriminate

I went there and was treated unfairly. I was told that my attire was not appropriate, but I was wearing what everyone else was wearing. The only problem is that I am overweight and black and I was with a Pakistanian. So I strongly believe that we were turned away because of our nationality and my size.

I went to mosaic a while back and i had a blast so i decided to go back again; but before i did i decided to read a few reviews. Although they were all negative, i went anyway. I should have listened to those reviews. i went to Mosaic on 04-24-09 and it was horrible! I went to the bar and ordered a drink, it was filled with ice, so i went back and told the bartender to make me a second drink without ice. That didnt go too well either. The drink was terrible. i told the bar tender the drink didnt taste right and he had the nerve to ask me if i knew what was in the drink and to give him the ingredients. Why should i have to go through that when that's pretty much the only drink i drink no matter where i go other than beer. i felt insulted, therefore i left. The $20.00 that my date and i paid to get in was wasted. . Afte i left i went to BaBaLU and it was great. The bar tender made my drink perfectly it tasted great and i would recommend anyone there. What a waste of space!

Ugh...AVOID!

This place is not a place to go clubbing. It's a place where clubbing goes to die. Forget every uptight, snooty, pretentious, unfriendly, corny, STD farm with an unnecessary velvet rope you've been to in the past. Mosaic takes the cake. Perhaps they should change the name to the similar sounding "Mozambique". For both of these places are war-torn cesspools of hate and suffering where genocide could break out at any time. At Mosaic, if you are a male wearing last month's Affliction™ t-shirt, you will be shunned, scorned and possibly burned alive. And the women are enslaved by their own stupidity and contempt for anything resembling a true complexion. This cruel hierarchy's pathetic essence is rivaled only by Mosaic's direful selection in music. If you want to grind your tiny reproductive pinky into an underage hoochie's totally wrecked sewage nostril to the same songs you danced to at your 7th grade homecoming, this is the place for you.

Mosaic 2008 was great...what happened in 2009?

I wish I had read the latest reviews before going last weekend. Mosaic used to be a great club that had awesome dance music, professional guests that were dressed well, and a great high energy/fun atmosphere. That was so last year...

Mosaic 2009 is filled with obnoxious guests. The dance floor has people butt dancing and grinding. When I was there on Saturday night, there was actually the stench of vomit in the club -- nice. They tried to light incense to cover it up but then the smell was more like a strip club...particularly with the women staff dressed like strippers. They just needed a pole. My group left before midnight.

So if you are interested in borderline adult entertainment and crowds of drunken, sweaty, stinking, vomiting people (and still good dance music)...then this is your place. Baltimore's hottest new ghetto club!

I plan to check this site periodically to see if the club improves.

disappointed

I went this place for New Year's Eve. I had VIP tickets that meant some food (lame) and a better champagne toast - which I never saw one glass of any champagne being distributed for the midnight/new year toast. the place was so packed - VIP or main areas that it was impossible to move w/out being smothered. it would seem to be that for a special evening, some care would have been taken to flood the place and lie about having a midnight champagne toast. it felt like there was no difference between VIP and regular admission areas -all were so packed. no dancing - anywhere - just smothering. this place was like amature night for nightclubs - with no employee being able to answer to me where was the champagne. how can a place charge 60.00 a ticket on NYE and not even give enough room to those folks there to celebrate it. i will not even go into their statement of having, "ice ferries" w/ nothing on but body paint - i knew that was a lie from the start. i am into dancing, and there is not even a real dance floor in this place, just a big bar area and few lousy seats that area always reserved. this place needs new management and a new outlook on crowd control and saying when to the amount of folks entering. the coatroom area was full right of the bat - thus people had to carry their coats! so lame! just a mess!

The review below is on target... Skip the new Mosaic
By JetSetMafia from Baltimore, DC, Miami, September 13, 2008

While the original Mosaic focused on quality house music accompanied by a good vibe, the new incarnation always guarantees a terrible nightlife experience. It really brings in a shrill crowd -- rude, unfriendly, and pretentious. The bar staff is also rude, and truly lacking in experience and hired based upon a uniform appearance of classlessness. They are dishonest and will try to short-change you and when confronted, will pretend it was a mistake.

The new Mosaic often features events thrown by a local promotion company called the "Jet Set Mafia." Be sure to avoid these events as the "Jet Set Mafia" (winner for lamest, wanna-be gangster promotion company name of all time... what? Was "Bling Gang$ta$" already taken??) caters to a really undesirable crowd, if it wasn't already apparent from the name. Again, a terrible experience is guaranteed, unless you like high cover charges, door discrimination, pretentiousness by a foreign crowd, and expensive, dishonest bar service. There are better places out there to spend a night....

New Mosaic?
By Gravitron from Hampden, March 29, 2008

Note the first review here was for the old Mosaic, the one before Mosaic "expanded". Let me just quote one of the photo captions from Metromixes review of the "new" Mosaic:
" In Mike's words: "Its about the scene, not the music—its never been about the music!"
Yea, that's pretty much it. Pretty people wanted. Music afficianados need not apply.
