Vibe: Shuckers overlooking the water in Fells Point offers a casual and lively environment. It wasn't crazy out of control, but everyone was having a really good time -- especially with the karaoke machine. There's a large bar area and a dining room, where, among other things, they serve crab cakes and burgers.
Crowd: Shucker's drew a good crowd for a Thursday night. There was a mix of people of all ages, focusing either on each other or the karaoke singers. The large TVs and pool tables also served as ample entertainment.
Libations: Shucker's serves a lot of beer but does not have a fully stocked liquor bar. On Monday nights, there's a two-for-one special. The bar also serves margarita pitchers and features two excellent specialty drinks representative of Baltimore: the Oriole-tini and the Raven Raspberry 'Rita.
Sounds: It was karaoke night -- need I say more? Although drunk amateurs playing American Idol may sound like a nightmare, it really wasn't that bad. Nobody was taking the competition all that seriously; it was more about having fun.
Service: The service was great! The manager and staff are friendly and when I was there they were even willing to pose for a few pictures.
Bottom Line: Shucker's was impressive for a Thursday night. They've got some great weekly specials for both food and drinks, and its prime location gives it a beautiful view, making it an excellent place to enjoy dinner. Plus, I wouldn't mind going back for another Oriole-tini.
