We know you’re curious: Why the "Nc" in NcDevin’s? Metromix wondered, too. Turns out the owners named the place for their kids, Nicholas and Devin. So there, they aren’t just messing with your head. The neighborhood bar caters to a slightly older crowd than most Canton Square hot spots, but thank God there’s a place to go that doesn’t require the services of babysitting bouncers. Unless, of course, you’re here for a Ravens/Steelers game or even a cutthroat round of trivia.

Drinks: The best deal in the house is NcDevin’s beer bucket special; choose from Miller Lite, Miller High Life or Rolling Rock—six for $6. Their draft selection could be better, but they’ve got the standards. Metromix is still holding out for that day we discover Natty Boh draft, but that'll have to wait.

Decor: NcDevin's is first and foremost a neighborhood bar. The hardwood throughout creates a homey feel, but when it gets crowded, NcDevin's can be difficult to navigate.

Depending on who’s controlling the TouchTunes jukebox, you’re bound to hear a bit of everything. From Frank Sinatra to Matthew Sweet or Kenny Rogers to Soulja Boy, be prepared—NcDevin’s knows how to "crank dat" volume. For sounds just as ear-splitting, check out karaoke on Saturdays.

Crowd: At NcDevin’s, beer-swilling late 20-somethings gather to watch the game or grab a drink without leaving the neighborhood or getting caught up in the Canton frat fest.

Recognized by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, don’t be alarmed to see black and yellow jerseys congregating on Sundays. Don’t worry, the heckling’s purely innocent. (Mostly.) Besides, we can empathize with fans from working class cities. And anyway, if they didn’t believe in Baltimore, they wouldn’t be here, right?

Insider tips: Even if a few of ‘em are Steelers fans, a healthy camaraderie is shared between customers and bartenders at NcDevin’s. Quick to suggest a menu favorite, new shot or jukebox selection, the staff is ready to change one of the 16 flat screens to the game of your choice and treat you like a regular, even if it is your first visit.

Bottom line: If you want to stay in Canton, but avoid the square, NcDevin’s knocks out the competition. It’s still loud enough to feel like Canton, but without the added nonsense. The only thing Metromix has to complain about are the bathrooms—they smell kinda funky. Hunh, it is a Steelers bar after all.
