Vibe: Amid piercing parlors and vintage clothing, atop cobblestone streets sits a legendarily grungy bar where locals swarm for far more than a liquor license. Cat's Eye Pub in Fells has been serving Irish tradition since opening in 1975 and has since became a breeding ground for booze, bands and banter.
Paddleboards that read "No Drugs In No Booze Out" welcome your warp into a tavern of history and tradition. Lining the ceilings of this slim, yet sizable, bar are a slew of red and green Irish flags which hang as complements to celebrated Irish sites, events and notable figureheads. Charming rustic ships on oak mantels and an inverted Christmas tree add to the ambiance and experience.
Crowd: A diverse crowd of leather and lace, slacks and suits, age and youth serve for constant conversation and ongoing cheers.
Libations: Take a seat at a front bar stool and drool over 40 draughts on tap. While you throw back the night's first drink, get lost in the bar's backdrop of fiery bumper stickers and police badges that are brought in as an ongoing bar tradition.
Service: Beer goggles are in effect, when a Jerry Garcia dead ringer offers you another Oktoberfest. Accept the round and the bar's locally loyal and Irish-spirited staff. The Cat's Eye crew is joyful and carefree and tuned in to what you're swiggin'.
Sounds: Supplying live tunes seven days a week, Cat's Eye Pub brings in the Skyla Burrel Blues Band and Dame's Rocket to launch your night. Bluesician Steve Kramer and crew (pictured) hold the cards as the Sunday house band, playing for the past 20 years. Don't forget to show your band/bar appreciation and scrounge out some cents for the money pit passed around throughout the night.
Bottom Line: Stroll in and stumble out. Cat's Eye Pub purrs with tradition!
