We are—as you probably know—in the midst of a serious energy crisis. However, the energy crisis we're talking about does not involve OPEC or the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. No, this is something far more serious and potentially catastrophic. This crisis involves the energy that is required to consistently participate in Baltimore's nightlife; living large in Charm City means fighting off entropy and keeping your kinetic energy high. This is all basic physics, folks—you need to overcome the friction of work and school with the sort of fuel that keeps you grooving.
Fortunately for us, modern science has provided the perfect answer to our problem—the energy drink. Never before have so many energy drinks been on the market. And this is about more than simply cramming loads of caffeine and sugar into aluminum cans; this is about modern science and chemistry at its best. Most modern energy drinks are a special mix of caffeine, taurine, L-Carnitine, B vitamins and guarana. Aside from caffeine, the one common denominator you will find here is taurine. Taurine is an amino acid which helps fight off mental and physical fatigue, and also increases your sense of well-being. It was originally derived from bull bile—hence, Red Bull. Don't freak though—the taurine used in contemporary energy drinks is synthetic.
So, if you're feeling sluggish, crack a can and power up.
