Maryland is known for many things: The blue crab, "The Wire," the Chesapeake Bay and Old Bay, the Ravens, the Orioles and, of course, Natty Boh. One of the things for which Baltimore is rarely discussed, though, is local wine, but with 19 officially recognized vineyards, Metromix thinks it’s time to get familiar with these grape-smashing Marylanders.

"We have to prove ourselves every day," says Robert Deford, President of Boordy Vineyards. "It’s assumed you’re less [as a Maryland winery]. To survive in this business, we have to be better." With that in mind, Metromix offers 10 of our favorite local bottles and an opportunity to support a burgeoning local industry.
