The Egyptian obelisk shaped monument was completed in 1884, and it has been a vital part of the D.C. landscape ever since. The view from the top is incredible and certainly worth seeing. Be sure to pick up tickets early or reserve in advance during the spring and summer, as tickets sell out fast.
